Creating a new file in Continux – an overview [nicht vergessen: SEO Optimierung]

In Continux, you can create different types of files: patents, utility models, trademarks, designs, general files and conflicts. 

The file types patents, utility models, trademarks and designs are considered intellectual property rights categories. Conflicts can contain intellectual property information but are not rights themselves; they are used, for example, for oppositions or objections. General files are flexible and can be used for general procedures.

How to create a new file:

1. Select files in the left main menu, then choose the category you want, for example patents or trademarks.
2. Click the green “New” button.
3. Choose the desired file type, such as national patent, European patent, or PCT for patents.
4. The input mask for the chosen file type will open.

Required field “File reference”

• This must be filled in when creating the file.
• This is the internal file reference in Continux (not the official file number).
• The file reference is freely selectable, as long as it meets the following rules:
  • Allowed characters: only letters, numbers, and underscores
  • Not allowed: spaces
  • Example: DE2017_Maerz

Important note:

After saving for the first time, the file reference can be modified only once. If this option is not used, the file reference cannot be changed later.

Fields and file editing

All other fields can be added or changed at any time afterward. Simply open the file in edit mode and update the information.

Tip for mistakes:

If you mistype the file reference and no longer have the option to change it, you can delete the file (see the Delete file guide) and then create it anew.
