Geändert am Mi, 17 Dez um 4:45 NACHMITTAGS

To create a national patent file, follow the same basic steps as described in the article “Creating a new file in Continux”. This article adds the specific input fields that are relevant for national patent files.

Create a new “National patent” file

1. In the main menu on the left, go to “Files” → “Patents”.

2. Click the green “New” button.
3. In the list of file types, select “National patent”.

4. The “National patent” entry form opens.
5. First enter the file reference (required).
6. If already known, also select the country, even though it is not required.

7. Click “Save” to create the new file.

Important note

After saving for the first time, the file reference can be changed only once. If the option “Yes, edit” is not used, the file reference can no longer be changed later.

Typing error and no option to change it?

 Delete file.

Mandatory field: file reference

  • Enter an internal file reference that follows your conventions (letters, numbers and underscores only, no spaces).
  • Example: DE2025_ProjectAlpha
  • The file reference is freely selectable and does not have to match the official reference number from the patent office.

Additional fields of the national patent

The fields follow the typical patent lifecycle – from filing through publication, search and examination to grant and portfolio management. When you first create the file, it is sufficient to complete the required fields. Additional information such as publication data or examination reports can be added at any time once it becomes available.
