Renewal Fees After EP Grant – Terms and Deadlines in Continux

After grant, Continux sets the renewal fees terms in the EP file to "obsolete" as soon as a national validation file or Unitary Patent file is created via the workflow. The deadlines then appear in the respective national validation file (EP validation) or in the Unitary Patent file.

As renewal fees are calculated from the anniversary of the filing date, the next due date may fall shortly after grant depending on the circumstances. If the national validation file or Unitary Patent file is created after this due date, Continux will no longer generate a deadline for that fee, the expiry date already lies in the past.

Recommendation: In this case, create the relevant renewal fee manually as a Task in Continux. Tasks operate independently of the automatic deadline generation and ensure that the due date is monitored.
