Expert search in Continux – search in a targeted and precise way.

The expert search allows you to search specifically for certain fields, content or combinations of terms . This article provides an overview of the syntax, the available fields, and the correct use of operators.

What is the expert search?

The expert search lets you narrow down your queries and obtain precise results. Unlike the standard search, your input is not adjusted automatically, but interpreted exactly as entered.

Note: Without correct syntax, an entry is not recognized as an expert search.

Activating the expert search

In the blue bar at the top, tick the “Expert search” checkbox next to the search field before entering your query.

Structure of an expert search

  • Each query starts with a field name, followed by a colon and the search term.
  • If no field is specified, the system searches by default in the entire case text as well as in attached documents.

Example

status:Granted

product:semix

tag:docketed

Important notes on spelling

  • Field names must be spelled correctly – upper/lower case is crucial.
  • Full-text queries (without a field) must always be written in lower case: text:(verfahren AND mehrschichtbauteil?)

Example

status:Granted ✅

status:granted❌

(is not recognized)

technology:
profitcenter:

Available wildcards and operators

OREither/or link(Auto) OR (Reifen)
NOTExcludes a term(Auto) NOT (Reifen)

Please note:
  • Boolean operators (ANDORNOT) must be written in uppercase.
  • Terms combined with these operators must be enclosed in round brackets.

Practical example

– that have either the tag “mli” or the product “semix”,
